Voting results and phone identities revealed
The blind vote is over. The majority of voters across all scenes have expressed their preference for Phone B, which happens to be the Samsung Galaxy Note8.
- Scene 1: 68% are in favor of Note8
- Scene 2: 57% for Note8
- Scene 3: 51% for Note8
- Scene 4: 57% for Note8
However, in most cases the range was very small, confirming our own observations.

Camera shootout blind voting
Those of you who follow our Facebook page probably know that we’re working on a camera shootout between the iPhone 8 Plus and the Galaxy Note8. Well we’re getting there, it’s just a few final touches away from release and it should go live sometime tomorrow.
In the meantime, we thought we’d ask you to vote for which photos you like the most without revealing the phone identities right now. It’s like a blind vote.
We’ve selected a few 1:1 crops from the samples we shot for the article and we’re bringing them to you for your first pixel peeping.
We’ll start with a few different types of foliage, two of them real, the other painted onto a snail sculpture. Hover over the photos to compare the two crops, then cast your vote below.
Scene 1, 1:1 crops: daylight, wide angle
Continue to the telecameras to get some roof tiles closer. However, it’s not all about the details. Check out the shadows to compare the noise characteristics of the two phones.
Scene 2, 1:1 crops: daylight, tele
We’ve also prepared a series of low-light crops – believe it or not, these were taken at exactly the same time (and there’s a yellow van to prove it).
Scene 3, 1:1 crops: low light, wide angle
And the last one isn’t a crop, it’s the whole scene (obviously scaled down to fit here) to get a general idea of colors and exposure.
Scene 4, whole picture, reduced: daylight, wide angle
You have approximately 24 hours to cast your vote. We’ll reveal the results tomorrow and we’ll continue with the detailed comparison. Until then!
