(Pocket-lint) – OnePlus first announced the OnePlus 10 Pro on 11 January in China, followed by a global launch on 31 March 2022. It succeeds the OnePlus and OnePlus 9 Pro, with global availability almost exactly the same made on the anniversary.

There is currently no standard OnePlus 10, but here is the comparison between the OnePlus 10 Pro and the OnePlus 9 Pro.

The OnePlus 10 Pro shares a similar design to the OnePlus 9 Pro from the front, with a punch hole camera in the top left corner and a slightly curved display, although the back sees a change.

From a rectangular camera body with two large lenses coupled with two smaller lenses like the OnePlus 9 Pro offers, the OnePlus 10 Pro has a square camera body. Both models have distinctive Hasselblad branding, but the OnePlus 10 features three large lenses and an equal circle flash module, offering a symmetrical finish.

The OnePlus 10 Pro’s camera body also wraps around the frame of the device, while the OnePlus 9 Pro’s body is an island on the back of the device.

The OnePlus 9 Pro measures 163.2 x 73.6 x 8.7mm and weighs 197g. The OnePlus 10 Pro measures 163 x 73.9 x 8.55mm, so the two are pretty much identical in terms of size. Both should also be waterproof and dustproof according to IP68.

The OnePlus 10 Pro features a 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a Quad HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The display adjusts between 1Hz and 120Hz depending on the display, just like the OnePlus 9 Pro.

What is different about the OnePlus 10 Pro, however, is that it features something called Dual Color Calibration, which is designed to deliver accurate and natural colors at two levels of brightness.

The OnePlus 9 Pro has a 6.7-inch Quad HD+ resolution and, as mentioned, also offers a 120Hz refresh rate. Both devices have LTPO technology, although the OnePlus 10 Pro has a newer version of the technology for has a more efficient display.

  • 9 Pro: Qualcomm SD888, 8/12GB RAM, 128/256GB storage, 4500mAh

The OnePlus 10 Pro runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and is available in 8GB or 12GB RAM options with storage options of 128GB and 256GB respectively.

The OnePlus 9 Pro runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, which is supported by either 8GB RAM and 128GB storage or 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

The OnePlus 10 Pro runs on a 5000mAh battery, which is slightly larger than the OnePlus 9 Pro’s 4500mAh battery. The OnePlus 10 Pro also charges faster as it uses Oppo’s VOOC charging technology with 80W SuperVOOC wired charging and 50W AirVOOC wireless charging.

The OnePlus 10 Pro has a triple rear camera consisting of a 48-megapixel main camera with f/1.8 and optical image stabilization (OIS), a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture.

All three cameras can shoot 12-bit RAW and offer features like Film mode for video recording, which allows you to customize various settings like ISO and shutter speed, as well as Hasselblad color styles.

The 50MP ultra wide-angle lens also offers a 150-degree field of view with a fisheye effect.

Meanwhile, the OnePlus 9 Pro has a quad rear camera with a 48-megapixel main sensor with f/1.8 aperture with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens and a 2-megapixel rear monochrome sensor.

price

The OnePlus 10 Pro costs £799 in the UK, €899 in Europe and $899 in the US for the 8GB model. The 12GB model costs £899 in the UK and €999 in Europe.

In comparison, the OnePlus 9 Pro cost £829 in the UK, €899 in Europe and $869 in the US for the 8GB model at launch. The 12GB model costs £929 in the UK, €999 in Europe and $1069 in the US.

Conclusion

The OnePlus 10 Pro slightly changes the design compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro, while also refining the camera offering, upgrading the processor and improving the display technology.

There are also battery improvements in the new model and it offers faster charging compared to its predecessor.

The OnePlus 10 Pro certainly makes improvements over the OnePlus 9 Pro on paper, although you might find the OnePlus 9 Pro cheaper now that the 10 Pro is here and you might decide the upgrades aren’t worth the money.
